In the first quarter of the year, Pisco exports to France totaled US$105,000, surpassing the total US$99,000 reached in 2014, the Head of the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) Magali Silva announced.

Pisco shipments to France have "displayed dynamism" going from US$25,000 to US$99,000 between 2013 and 2014. It represented a growth of 398%, she added.

The expansion has been possible thanks to the promotion of the said national product undertaken by the Mincetur-run Peruvian Trade Office located Paris (Ocex Paris).

"This has led to a higher Pisco consumption at bars in Paris, as well as in other cities of France. One of the main specialized suppliers is La Maison du Whisky," she stated.

For the first time, Mincetur, Ocex Paris and Promperu (Peru's Export and Tourism Promotion Board) presented the varied exportable supply of pisco at the "International Wine & Spirits Exhibition, Vinexpo," Bordeaux's major beverage event. The exhibition was held on June 14-18.

It included Pisco Sour and Chilcano tasting sessions.
