The draft proposal for Peru’s 2015 general budget aims to drive more social inclusion nationwide and to beat the cycle of poverty and unemployment, the country’s Prime Minister Ana Jara said Thursday.

In her remarks to reporters from TV Peru, the high-level government official noted that President Ollanta Humala plans to carry out highly- efficient initiatives in the core sectors of health and education which intend to achieve a more inclusive society and economy.

In this regard, Jara noted the Executive branch submitted on Wednesday to the Peruvian Legislature the proposed 2015 national budget worth 130.32 billion soles (US$ 46.15 billion), 7.2 billion soles of which has been set aside for boosting the education sector.

“The Humala administration seeks to bridge the infrastructure gap in education through the promotion of Public-Private Partnership (PPP),” said the chief of the Ministerial Cabinet, adding, “This will allow us to provide an enhanced quality service to our children and teenagers”.

Moreover, she stressed the entrepreneurial sector has confidence in the economy as there are several international credit rating agencies which have predicted a 4 percent growth for Peru’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) this year, while they said it is slated to grow by 6 percent in 2015.

In that sense, she pointed out the government will continue working to reduce the red tape and unblock regulatory and other impediments to private sector projects, thus generating greater dynamism in the flow of investment and financial capital into the country

On Wednesday, 27th August, the Peruvian Council of Ministers approved the preliminary draft budget for the next fiscal year totaling US$ 46.15 billion, an amount which is 12 percent more than the 2014’s expenditure program.
