Peruvian surfing team had a challenging day on the water while competing at the Claro ISA 50th Anniversary World Surfing Games today due to unfavorable weather conditions in Punta Rocas beach.

Joaquin Del Castillo was not able to show his potential in the main event and fell to the repechage rounds.

Nevertheless, he still has the same opportunities and, tomorrow, will battle his fellow Peruvians Cristóbal De Col and Sebastián Alarcón.

It should be noted Alarcón and De Col had good performances today and progressed through two rounds of the repechage.

Gabriel Villaran was not as fortunate. After having lost in his series, he became the first Peruvian to leave the competition, which left him out of the world games.

On the women’s side, local favorite, Anali Gomez will look to make the host country proud and win the Grand Final facing a heat against Ecuador’s Dominic Barona.
