A total of 30 Peruvians are being trained in Toulouse, France to operate Peru’s first Earth observation satellite system developed by Airbus Defence and Space, Peru Defense Ministry informed.
The training is part of the technological transfer process implemented by means of a government-to-government agreement entered to acquire the satellite.
Toulouse has previously welcomed 10 experts on the application of image processing in agriculture, forestry, cartography and defense fields.
On the other hand, the construction of Earth Station facilities in Punta Lobos (Pucusana) is expected to be completed by early January, and the station is due to go into operation since February.
Precisely on Tuesday, President Ollanta Humala and Defense Minister Jakke Valakivi visited Airbus Defence and Space facilities to supervise the progress made on the construction of Peru's first Earth observation satellite system named PeruSat-1.
They were joined by Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Maria Sanchez and the company's executives.
According to a press release, the delegation confirmed the high-quality standards —technologically speaking— in the presence of the company's Executive Vice President of Space Systems François Auque.
