Peruvians believe Machu Picchu is Peru’s most representative spot

The citadel of Machu Picchu in Cusco is believed to be the landmark that best represents Peru, according to 85% of people surveyed in a poll by Ipsos company.

The survey, published by El Comercio daily, interviewed people about the three places that best represents Peru providing them with a multiple choice quiz to do so.

A total of 85% of respondents believe that Peru’s most representative spot is Machu Picchu, followed by Nazca Lines (33% of votes), Lake Titicaca (26%), Amazon River (25%) and Cusco Historic Center (20%).

The survey found that 44% of those polled feel hopeful and optimistic about Peru; in addition, 43% of them believe Peru triggers pride, 33% believe it triggers love and affection, 16% consider it leads to mixed feelings, 15% think it triggers sorrow, 11% think it leads to embarrassment, 7% believe it triggers anger and hate, and 4% feel it leads to indifference.
