Peruvian volleyball team trounces Canada 3-1

Peru women's volleyball team was victorious in their debut game against Canada in Group 2 at the 2014 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.
The Peruvian team, coached by Natalia Malaga, beat Canada 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 25-27 and 25-16) in less than two hours at the Coliseo Eduardo Dibos in the nation's capital Lima on Friday night.

Tonight, the Peruvian team will go up against Belgium's national team. Group 2 is made up by Peru, Cuba, Netherlands, Poland, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Canada and Belgium.

In other results, Poland defeated Belgium 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21),while the Netherlands and Puerto Rico completed easy straight-set wins over Cuba and Argentina, respectively. 

Netherlands took advantage of a very young Cuban side for a 3-0 success (25-11, 25-13, 25-20), while Puerto Rico used their home advantage to upset the Argentines (25-22, 25-18, 25-22).

It is the first time Peru hosts the World Grand Prix. Lima city has been selected to host the first weekend of the Preliminary Round from July 25 to 27. Canada, Belgium, Poland and Peru will play at the Eduardo Dibos Coliseum in Lima. 

The second weekend will see Cuba, Puerto Rico, Poland and Peru play at the Gran Chimu Gymnasium in Trujillo, Peru, from August 1-3.
