Peruvian trade official to attend TPP meetings in Utah

Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) will take part in a series of technical meetings related to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations.

The inter-sessional talks of various TPP working groups will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, from November 12-26.

High on the agenda will be discussions on market access, rules of origin, environmental and labor issues, intellectual property and public procurement.

Other topics include border services, electronic commerce, temporary entry of business people and non-conforming measures.

Peru will be represented by Mincetur's trade expert Daisy Olortegui.

The TPP is currently being negotiated by 12 countries, namely: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam.

The meetings in Utah will preface the TPP ministerial talks slated to be held from Dec. 7 to 9 in Singapore.
