Peruvian small and medium enterprises( SMEs) from the agro-food sector which participated in Canada's international food and beverage trade show, SIAL Canada expect to ink business deals worth US$1.2 million within the next nine months, Peruvian Association of Exporters reported.
The event took place from April 2-4, 2014 at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal with 767 exhibitors and brands from 43 countries and some 14,685 visiting professionals from more than 60 countries.
SIAL is the No. 1 Canadian exhibition showcasing North American agrifood business. In 2013, the exhibition welcomed 12,825 professional visitors and 770 exhibitors from 61 countries.
Peruvian companies showcased their wide-range of products including pisco, table olives, extra virgin olive oil , energy drinks containing maca and fruits, chocolate bars, banana chips and gluten-free products.
Giannina Denegri, manager of Agro at ADEX, said that the Andean country's products that aroused most interest among international visitors were pisco, banana chips and quinoa .
During the three-day fair, Peruvian entreprenuers meet with potential customers such as supermarkets, importers, distributors, retail / Horeca, among others.
