The Second Meeting of Peruvian Scientists in Europe, Sinapsis 2017, kicked off on Thursday at Technical University of Berlin in Germany.
Running thru October 7, the event is intended to strengthen Peruvian scientific networks in Europe.
During the opening, Peru’s Ambassador to Germany Elmer
Schialer stressed Peruvian Government's efforts to promote science, technology and innovation events through
policies and programs developed by State-run Science and Technology Council (Concytec).
On its first day, Sinapsis featured over 100 Peruvian scientists residing in Europe including researchers and professors, as well as European scientists working on projects related to Peru.
It must be mentioned the gathering has been organized by a group of young Peruvian scientists led by Ph.D. Abel Alcazar (from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf).
Sinapsis 2017 is supported by Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Peruvian Embassy in Germany, as well as by many institutions and private firms.
Plenary speakers include Enrique Solano (Peruvian scientist and director at Quantum Technologies for Information Science—QUTIS) and Harald Helfgott (Mathematician and professor at Georg August University in Gottingen), among others.
Likewise, the event features international speakers such as Ludger Woeste (Expert in laser technology and professor at Free University of Berlin) and Pal Moller (Expert in hereditary cancer and doctor at Oslo University Hospital).
