The Peruvian Trade Office in the United Kingdom organized a tasting of quinoa-based dishes from Peru at Coya restaurant in London in the presence of renowned English gastronomic critics.

During the tasting —used to promote the so called golden grain in the European market— Peruvian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Claudio De la Puente explained the product’s nutritional value and versatility but, above all, the social impact of its growing consumption across makets around the world.

James Livingstone, a British importer of quinoa, noted the production of its different varieties and the close relationship between its cultivation and the way of life of high Andean communities dedicated to its production.

Peru is currently the world’s largest quinoa producer, whose shipments have increased by 25% since 2014, exporting over 2,400 tons only to the British market, Peru's Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

Launched by the Trade Office and supported by the Peruvian Embassy, the activity is part of an intense campaign to promote Peruvian gastronomy in the United Kingdom.

It should be noted that Peruvian cuisine is gaining acceptance in that part of Europe, which is reflected in the opening of first-class restaurants over the area.
