Peruvian President Ollanta Humala met Tuesday with United States Trade Representative Michael Froman at the Government Palace in Lima.

During the meeting, they discussed a variety of issues including the international situation and the ongoing negotiations toward the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.

The discussions mainly centered around topics related to intellectual property and the environment.

Froman, who arrived in Peru after visiting Chile, is President Barack Obama's principal trade advisor, negotiator and spokesperson on trade issues.

The TPP, now in the late stages of negotiation, is a 12-country effort to negotiate a high-standard agreement to open markets across the Asia-Pacific and support job creation.

Also attending the meeting were Peruvian Foreign Minister Eda Rivas and Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva.
