Peruvian President Ollanta Humala met with South Korean National Assembly member Choi Kyoung-hwan in Lima on Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral political dialogue and economic relations of the two countries.

Choi Kyoung-hwan, who arrived in Lima as a special envoy of President Park Geun-hye, is the floor leader of South Korea's ruling Saenuri Party.

During their meeting, held at the Government Palace, Humala and Choi talked about strengthening high-level political dialogue, in a bid to further enhance economic relations between the two nations.

They also discussed preparations for the upcoming visit of President Park Geun-hye to Peru later this year.

Choi Kyoung-hwan arrived in the Peruvian capital from Santiago, where he attended the inauguration of Michelle Bachelet as president of Chile.

Peru and South Korea signed a free trade agreement in 2011, and the following year they upgraded their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
