Peru’s President Ollanta Humala headed the ceremony to honor the Peruvian athletes, who obtained medals at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.

The ceremony was aimed at recognizing the athletes, whose efforts led to position Peru in the 12th spot out of 41 delegations that joined the mega-sports event.

The Peruvian team claimed 4 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals leading to a total 13. Thus, the result set a new record. 

The event took place at the Lima Government Palace’s Golden Hall. It was also attended by Education Minister Jaime Saavedra and First Lady Nadine Heredia.
