Peruvian President Ollanta Humala concluded his Presidential Message to the Nation in the framework of the Peru's 194th Independence Day celebrations.
The 75 minute-long message marked the President's last annual speech as Head of State. Next year, a new President will take office.
Throughout his four years in office, Mr. Humala's administration put a set of social policies in place, which allowed 1.3 million Peruvians to leave poverty behind.
It is the first time the country is run by an administration that implemented social programs, which obtained International Quality Certifications, such as Pension 65 (pensions for low-income seniors) and Beca 18 (scholarship program for talented youngsters from underprivileged backgrounds), he said.
"Currently, Peru is a leader in social policy management across Latin America [...],” he told after reminding the progress made on the implementation of social programs Cuna Mas, Juntos, Qali Warma and Pension 65.
