Peruvian president begins state visit to Colombia

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala met Monday with top authorities of the legislative and judicial branches in Colombia on the first day of his state visit to the neighboring country.

After attending the 8th Pacific Alliance Summit in Cartagena, the Peruvian leader held separate meetings with Colombia's Senate President Juan Fernando Cristo and Supreme Court President Luis Gabriel Miranda Buelvas.

On Tuesday, Ollanta Humala is scheduled to meet with his Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos at the Casa de Nariño palace in Bogota. Their meeting will focus on bilateral relations and issues of regional interest.

President Humala will then meet with Bogota's Mayor Gustavo Petro before wrapping up his two-day visit to Colombia.

Also on Monday, the presidents of the member nations of the Pacific Alliance signed an additional protocol to liberalize the exchange of goods, services and investments within the bloc, which groups Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile.
