Peruvian President Ollanta Humala attends today the BRICS Summit' second working session in Brazil which gathers this bloc's leaders and their counterparts from South American nations.
The head of State arrived in the Brazilian capital from Berlin, where he attended the Fifth Petersberg Climate Dialogue and met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

President Humala’s decision to take part in this forum has to do with his attempt to develop high level relationships with BRICS member states, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, as they represent a great opportunity to do business.

In addition, the Peruvian leader will hold talks with his counterparts from China’s People Republic, Xi Jinping; from Brazil, Dilma Rouseff; and India’s recently-elected Prime Minister, Narendra Mondi.

The summit provides an opportunity to enhance a working relationship between BRICS countries and South American nations, which is aimed at achieving inclusive economic growth, sustainable productive development, enhancement of infrastructure, and the promotion of quality investments.

It is worth mentioning that the BRICS are home of 43 percent of the world’s population, and make up 21 percent of global GDP.

At the end of his visit to Brazil, the Peruvian leader will travel to Mexico, where he is due to meet his counterpart Enrique Peña Nieto.
