The Peruvian Navy has rescued three passengers of Dutch sailing boat “Aloha,” adrift 13 miles away from the coast of Tumbes (Peru’s Northern Tumbes region).

The crew had started a journey in Isla de Pascua (Chile), which was supposed to end in Panama, but some unexpected mechanical problems were experienced on its way north.

The General Direction of Captaincies and Coastguards initiated the rescue efforts.
Maritime Patrol "Rio Ocoña" blocked the boat near Punta Sal and took care of the passengers in Cancas Bay. They were provided medical assistance, water and food.

Rescued people were: Captain Carlos Santos-Suarez Barroso (Spain); crew members Daniel Kurt (USA) and Gabriela Kovolova (Czech Republic).

It should be noted the Peruvian Navy authorities will continue working with the aim of protecting the environment, natural resources and monitoring sea areas.
