Peruvian President Ollanta Humala on Sunday congratulated Michelle Bachelet on being elected as President of Chile and wished her success for her second term in office.
In the congratulatory letter, Humala reaffirmed his country's willingness to "work together to strengthen the relations of mutual respect, friendship, integration and cooperation between the two countries."

"All this with the aim of renewing the confidence that allow us to meet the high and noble expectations of Peruvians and Chileans," he added.

Bachelet of the New Majority coalition won the election on Sunday with 62 percent of the votes and will take office on March 11, 2014.

Bachelet, a mother of three, made history by becoming the first woman in Chile to be elected president twice. She served as Chile's first female president from 2006 to 2010.
