Peruvian Hass avocados will conquer the Chinese market thanks to the approval granted by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) Minister Magali Silva affirmed.

In this sense, Peruvian regions Ica, Lima, Ancash, Ayacucho, Apurimac, Tacna, Moquegua, Lambayeque and La Libertad, among others will benefit from the demand for the fruit. Thus, farmers were suggested to develop an export supply of high-quality.

“A step forward in making the most of the Peru-China FTA has been made. It turns our country into a business priority for the Asian giant. From now on, Chinese consumers will be able to enjoy our Hass avocados flavor, texture and nutritional contribution [...],” the Minister indicated.

Silva announced last Friday the AQSIQ had published a list that included Peruvian farms and packing plants, which had been granted corresponding authorization to export the product to China.

“Thanks to the joint work undertaken by the Agriculture, Irrigation Ministry, Senasa, Mincetur, Promperu and the Peruvian entrepreneurial sector” the huge Chinese market has opened its doors to Hass avocado, she pointed out.

Thus, the head of Mincetur requested producers and exporters to engage in contact with the Shanghai and Beijing-based Peruvian Trade Offices, Promperu and Sensa to "to make the most of the great trade opportunity."

It must be noted Chinese enterprises are currently interested in acquiring the said products thanks to the information provided by OCEXs.

Among the companies are: Beijing Chunlin Agricultural, COFCO Industry Foodstuffs Import & Export, Eachtake (China) Limited, FCD Agricultural Product, Golden Ming Mau, Joyvio, Lantao, Pagoda, Riverstone and Supafresh, among others.
