Culinary delights at Peruvian food festival taking place in Fontana, California, were highlighted by dining critic at the California-based newspaper Daily Bulletin.
According to David Cohen, dining critic in the Inland Empire and food co-editor for Inland Empire Magazine, Peruvian food is one of the more popular South American cuisines, with its Spanish and Japanese influences.

Among the dishes he highlighted in the article are papa rellena, anticuchos, arroz con mariscos, tallarin saltado and the deliciously popular ceviche.

Besides the outine of delicious dishes mentioned in the news item, readers can also find lots of reviews of the festival's culinary offer.

For instance, Cohen lauded the prominent role played by Peruvian chili peppers called aji, which comes, among others, in a yellow, green and orange-hued (rocoto) version.

Likewise, he implied that when it comes to Peruvian cuisine, seafood is a must, and that hearty fare -predominating in the Andes mountains- is also part of the tasting menu.

The reporter tells his culinary experience in the festival by giving details on what he had from the appetizer to the entrée sections.

Fried cassava (yuca) was also mentioned in the article as a starchy vegetable which, on that occasion, was served with a huancaiana sauce comprised of milk, cheese, ground crackers, garlic and aju amarillo.

The dining critic also recommended some Peruvian drinks like maracuya, a refreshing passion fruit drink, and chicha morada, a blend of purple corn, pineapple, cinnamon, apple, lemon and cloves.
