Peruvian Embassy of Brazil gave a reception to commemorate the 194th anniversary of Peru’s Independence in the presence of Brazilian authorities, Peruvian diplomatic representatives accredited to Brasilia, local businessmen and members of the Peruvian community.

Speaking before 700 attendees, Peruvian Ambassador Jorge Bayona Medina noted the achievements made by Peru in the past years and highlighted, among other aspects, the reduction of poverty, increase of tourists, and decline of coca cultivation areas, which contributes to the increasing number of domestic and foreign tourists that show up every day.

He also valued the fact that the strategic alliance with the neighboring country, Brazil, strengthens each day, thanks to both presidents’ political efforts to move forward towards public policies that benefit their respective peoples.

A gastronomic festival sealed the commemorative meeting. Diners had the chance to try a wide variety of Peruvian desserts and dishes such as anticuchos –grilled brochettes of beef heart, as well as the traditional pisco sour –flagship drink of Peru.

Peruvian National Day celebration was filled with Andean and Afro-Peruvian dances, too.
