Peru is drawing a lot of attention in Lisbon, Portugal as the special guest of this year’s ‘Chocolate em Lisboa’ festival taking place from February 4-7, Peru’s Foreign Affairs Ministry highlighted.
While in there, fairgoers will be able to enjoy the quality of our national cacao. Emphasis has been on the use of the said product during both the Inca and pre-Inca periods.
The fair brings together cocoa producers from, among other, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Spain, England and Portugal.
There will also be a formidable 1.7 meter chocolate sculpture of an Inca.
In addition to the image, a chocolate replica of Machu Picchu is being prepared for display.
Furthermore, Peru will host a chocolate competition that gathers artisan chocolate makers and producers of different nationalities. It will prize the best creation using Peruvian cacao.
Peru’s participation follows an initiative introduced by the Diplomatic Mission in Portugal and the Trade Office, which coordinated with the Cacau Clube de Portugal President Odete Estevo and the Sociedad Campo Pequeño manager for the selection of Peru as special guest.
