This is the first time a team of master bakers will represent Peru at the iba-UIBC-CUP "Bakers" held in Munich, Germany within the framework of this year’s IBA – the world’s leading trade fair for bakery, confectionary and snacks.
The team, consisting of Hector Urrunaga, Roger Aponte and trainer Carlos Huarcaya, is the Latin American group in the competition.
Bakery artisans will test their art, skills, knowledge and national raw materials, while facing teams from Holland, USA, China, Spain, Japan, Croatia, France, Russia, Denmark and Germany.
Categories are: crunchy bread, snacks, puff pastry bread and artistic piece.
The contest theme is "Circus", to which bakers will add a Peruvian touch with Andean culture representations in order to amaze attendees.
The competition, scheduled for 12–14 September 2015, will showcase the most emblematic Peruvian products such as quinoa, kiwicha, cañihua and other traditional fruits like lucuma, elderberry and Peruvian groundcherry.
