Gonzalo Gutierrez has presented his credentials to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari as non-resident Peruvian ambassador to the Asian country.
Ambassador Gutierrez was the guest of honor at a dinner hosted by the newly appointed honorary consul of Peru, Tarik Afridi, which was attended, among others, by Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, Director General for the Americas Syed Zulfiqar Gardezi, Brazilian Ambassador Alfredo Leoni, and Spanish Ambassador Javier Carbajosa.
According to an article published by TheNews.com.pk, the host welcomed his guests and said it was a pleasure to have them in his home.
Congratulating the guest of honor on presenting his credentials, Afridi said he looked forward to working in collaboration with him for promoting bilateral relations between Peru and Pakistan.
In his response, Ambassador Gutierrez thanked the host for arranging the dinner to meet everyone present.
He announced that the appointment of Tarik as honorary consul of Peru was official as it has been published in his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs gazette, a remark, which was followed by congratulations from those around the table.
“I am happy to be in Pakistan and am sorry my trip was cut short because of flight delays,” he said “But I hope to visit again soon,” said Ambassador Gutierrez, who is also accredited to China.
