Peru’s Deputy Foreign Minister Fernando Rojas is set to travel on Monday to South Korea with the aim to discuss with his Korean counterpart the bilateral agenda and to strengthen technological cooperation with that Asian country.
Rojas told Andina News Agency that since South Korea is a technological power, Peru wants to boost cooperation in this field in order to provide more added value to the country's export products.

"We want to develop science and technology. Peru needs to make latest technology products to reduce our dependence on raw materials, and to achieve this goal, South Korean cooperation is important, Rojas said.

Likewise, senior Peruvian government official  noted that during his visit to the Asian country, he will review trade relations and cooperation issues, as Peru is the first recipient of Korean cooperation, especially on issues of health sanitation.

On the other hand, the high-level diplomat pointed out that the Andean Nation has recently purchased South Korean aircrafts (KT-1) in a deal that includes technology transfer.

The KT-1 is a Korean propeller-driven tandem two-seat trainer plane built jointly by the Korea Aerospace industries Ltd.(KAI) and the Agency for Defense Development (ADD).

Peru and South Korea signed a free trade agreement in 2011, and the following year they upgraded their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
