Peru's top iron-steel export markets around the world

The United States, Colombia, and Belgium stood out as major export destinations for Peruvian iron and steel products between January and November 2017, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) has informed.

Iron and steel shipments to Colombia amounted to US$177.605 million in the January-November period, up by 19.45% over the same term in 2016 (US$148.689 million).

Likewise, sales of those products to Belgium expanded 53.50%, climbing from US$69.492 million in Jan-Nov 2016 to US$106.673 million in Jan-Nov 2017.

Lastly, iron-steel exports to the United States reached US$244.052 million between January and November 2017, a 4.99% rise from the same period the previous year (US$232.447 million).

Other destinations for these Peruvian products were Germany (+25.13%), Ecuador (+52.36%), Bolivia (+6.20%), South Africa (+30.01%), and Chile (+5.24%).

It must be noted Peru's total iron-steel exports increased 17% in the analyzed period, totaling US$1.038 billion.

According to Promperu, said expansion was mainly underpinned by higher shipments of unalloyed zinc (+41.49%) and refined copper wires (+18.51%).
