Peru’s drama film "El Mudo" (The Mute) will be receiving its first public screening in the United States on Thursday night at the Modern Art Museum (MoMA) of New York, it was reported today.
As part of its latest festival featuring Ibero-American films, the worldwide famous museum will introduce New York audiences to original and accomplished work by Vega brothers’ second creation following their 2010’s critically acclaimed October.

The Mute, written and directed by Daniel and Diego Vega Vidal, tells the story of a Judge (Constantino Zegarra) who has earned his name as an incorruptible stalwart with an impressive conviction rate.

Impervious to sob stories and appeals, he has also earned many enemies, any one of whom could be behind a conspiracy that leaves him demoted and—after a bullet strikes him in the neck—mute.

The 90 minute movie has been presented at major international film festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Palms Springs International Film Festival and the Festival of Havana.

MoMA's biannual showcase of innovative Spanish-speaking language films is in charge of Ibermedia which has been instrumental in the continued ascent of Latin American and Spanish filmmaking.
