Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso has requested authorization from the National Congress to leave the country from July 12 to 20 in order to pay an official visit to Germany, Brazil and Mexico.
President Humala is expected to travel to Germany to take part in the 5th Pertersberg Climate Dialogue, slated for July 14-15 in Berlin. This year's meeting will be presided over by Germany's Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks and Peruvian Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal.

The aim of this year's dialogue is to introduce new ideas into the negotiations and discuss new strategies in preparation for the 2014 World Climate Conference in Peru.

During his visit to Germany, the Peruvian leader will hold talks with his German counterpart Joachim Gauch and Chancellor Angela Merkel to deepen and strengthen bilateral relationships between the two nations.

Likewise, Humala is scheduled to visit Brazil to attend the second Working Session of the Sixth BRICS Summit on July 16 in Brasilia.

BRICS is the acronym for an association of five major emerging national economies namely Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

The BRICS countries represent almost 3 billion people with a combined nominal GDP of US$16.039 trillion and an estimated US$4 trillion in combined foreign reserves.

Within the framework of this summit, Humala will hold meetings with China's President, Xi Jinping, and the new prime minister of India, Narendra Modi.

Finally, Humala is to make an official visit to Mexico in order to deepen and upgrade bilateral ties to a comprehensive "strategic partnership."
