The United States, China, Spain, Colombia, and Holland have emerged as new markets for Peru’s non-traditional products in recent years, Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Magali Silva has said.
“In addition to Hong Kong, which is a port of entry for Peruvian products into other Asian countries, the list also includes Germany and Panama, a country with which Peru signed a Free Trade Agreement a year ago,” she added.

Other major markets are Brazil, South Korea, Canada, Belgium and Bolivia.

In an interview with the official government newspaper El Peruano, the minister recalled that non-traditional exports generate jobs and have significant market power because they are value-added.

As a market, China made the largest contribution to the expansion of Peruvian non-traditional exports.

According to Silva, shipments to the U.S. market saw a rise of US$60 million mainly due to higher demand of textiles and agricultural goods.
