15:21 | Arequipa (Arequipa region), May. 4.
A modern drone fleet will be used by the Peruvian National Police to conduct air monitoring activities and reinforce public safety measures during the upcoming APEC session taking place in Peru this month.
The Second Senior Officials' Meeting and Related Meetings (SOM2) will be held in southern Arequipa region from May 5th-15th.
Trade Ministers from the 21 APEC countries will meet to advance new, complementary measures for improving regional trade flows and green growth.
Such meetings seek to promote free trade and economic cooperation among member countries.
"We have already made arrangements with the Peruvian Air Force to prevent civilians from getting authorizations to use drones, and thus avoid any situation that might put the operation at risk [...]," Arequipa's Region Police Chief Enrique Blanco indicated.
A modern vehicle to ensure communications, helicopters and a large police contingent will be also deployed across the area.
It must be noted Peru hosts the 2016 APEC Presidency.
