17:31 Peru's main stock index ends higher
 
Lima, May 24 (ANDINA). Peru's main stock market indexes ended higher Thursday, as a number of blue-chip shares, especially in the mining sector, gained ground.

The Lima Stock Exchange's General Index rose 0.49% to end at 20,637.22. The blue-chip Selective Index ended 0.85% higher at 29,920.40.

Southern Copper Corp. increased 1.47% to end at $29.05, on improved copper prices, Dow Jones Newswires reported.

Precious metals miner Compania de Minas Buenaventura SAA rose 2.01% to end at $38.15, as the price of gold increased.

Financial holding company Credicorp Ltd. increased 1.01% to end at $120.20. It owns Peru's largest bank, Banco de Credito.
