72% of Peru-based hotels would be booked during the National Holidays (July 28-29), Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva estimated.

Hotels, to be reserved at nearly their full capacity, are those located in regions: Tacna (90%), Tumbes (90%), Cusco (85%), Piura (80%), La Libertad (70%), Madre de Dios (70%), Ucayali (70%) and Ayacucho (65%), the Minister noted.

Airlines

On the other hand, domestic flights would register an increase of 10-12%.

During the National Holidays, Lan Peru is expected to become the airline in charge of transporting the largest number of passengers by accounting for 69.4% of the total domestic flights, followed by Taca (13.5%), Peruvian Airlines (12.6%), Star Peru (3.1%) and LC Peru (1.4%).

Travel agencies

Travel agencies will be favored, since sales are expected to increase by 20-25% compared to the same period last year.

"This [would be possible] given the increase in sales of tour packages acquired by incoming tourists, whose favorite destinations are Macchu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, Cusco, Puno and Arequipa," the Minister indicated.

"Regarding the domestic tourists’ favorite destinations are the Northern beaches [of] Trujillo, [as well as those of] Chancay, Lunahuana, Paracas, Arequipa, among others," she added.
