Between 2005 and 2014, Pacific Alliance's high-technology exports totaled US$51.00 billion and denoted a 4.9% expansion, Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva reported on Wednesday.
According to the World Bank Group (WBG), Peru's high-technology exports amounted to US$1.574 billion. Thus, corresponding shipments experienced a 10% growth.
The sector includes: Aerospace industry, informatics, pharmaceutical and scientific products, as well as electrical machinery.
"Colombia's shipments increased by 7.8% and those from Peru [expanded] by 10%. These results confirm the nation's capacity to continue expanding is inexhaustible," she stressed.
Peru+IN Brand
Within the framework of the Pacific Alliance's 4th Entrepreneurship and Innovation Forum (LAB4+), Silva presented the Peru+IN brand aimed at recognizing national State-run, as well as private enterprises, institutions and organizations that build the country's future via innovation development.
"We know that innovation is an essential factor throughout companies' development process. It is directly linked to competitiveness, job creation and country’s economic growth," the minister affirmed.
"That's why we have created a brand to represent Peru as a country that promotes, rewards, shapes creative minds and remains at the service of society," she stated.
