Peru's top striker and national team captain Paolo Guerrero has been chosen the Americas' second-best soccer player, according to Uruguayan newspaper El País.

As is known, the journal has been picking the best players in the Americas since 1986, with the help of a survey conducted among the continent's most renowned sports journalists, which was also open to the public.

Brazilian forward Luan Vieira —whose club Gremio FBPA became the 2017 Libertadores Cup's champion— is the new King of the Americas.

Vieira got 49.46% of the 182 votes, thus defeating Guerrero at said competition.

The Peruvian star obtained 17.66% of the support, whereas Brazilian Arthur (12.50%) grabbed the third place.
