Peru's Finance Minister Luis Miguel Castilla said Tuesday that the government's budget for 2014 amounts to 118.9 billion soles (US$ 42.3 billion), representing a 9.7 percent increase compared to this year's budget.
Castilla noted that the budget is based on the country's economic forecast of six percent growth for 2014.

He said that over 70 percent of the budget will be covered by ordinary resources (nearly 83 million soles).

Moreover, he stated the projection for 2014 is aimed at achieving goals set by the administration of President Ollanta Humala and maintaining fiscal balance.

Castilla added that the bill includes seven main objectives, which are to continue with social inclusion programs, strengthen public order and public safety, enhance education and health sectors, reduce infrastructure gaps and promote productive sectors.
