Peru's GDP growth hit 5.2% at end of 2013, Eclac says

The Peruvian economy posted a record 5.2 percent GDP growth at the year-end 2013, according to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
The annual report carried out by the United Nations agency highlights this growth surpassed the level reached by Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Haiti, Nicaragua and Uruguay, whose economies expanded by between 4 percent to 5 percent.

In fact, in its report the organization states that the GDP of Latin America and the Caribbean grew 2.6 percent in 2013, down by 3.1 percent compared with a year earlier.

The results of the research entitled "Economic and Social Outlook" was released by the Executive Secretary of ECLAC, Alicia Bárcena, showcasing the regional economic slowdown which started in 2011.
