Peru's Foreign Minister Gonzalo Gutierrez Reinel was authorized to leave the country on September 18-27 to attend meetings of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United Nations (UN) in Guatemala and the United States, respectively.

The high government official will be visiting Guatemala in order to participate in the 46th Special Session of the OAS General Assembly scheduled for September 19, 2014 in the capital city.

He will then head to the United States to join President Ollanta Humala Tasso at the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 69), to take place at the UN headquarters in New York from September 18-27, 2014.

It is worth mentioning that Culture Minister Diana Alvarez-Calderon Gallo will take over the Foreign Affairs portfolio from Mr. Gutierrez during his ten-day absence.

Gutierrez' official visit has been authorized through a supreme resolution released Wednesday in El Peruano official daily. The said document was signed by President Ollanta Humala Tasso, Prime Minister Ana Jara and Foreign Minister Gonzalo Gutierrez.
