Renowned Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez gave details of his coming concert aimed at collecting funds for his country's natural disaster victims.

As is known, the Inca nation was at the mercy of "Coastal El Niño" phenomenon in the January-March period. The event was characterized by heavy rains, landslides and floods.

The fundraising gig will be held at Lima's National Stadium on July 1st.

Speaking from Vienna, Florez said the show will comprise two phases. First, the artist will take the stage along with other Peruvian musicians to perform songs and dances from all over the country.

The second phase will include a special appearance by children and youth from Symphony for Peru's orchestra and choir.

"The concert will be a celebration in honor of the land where I was born […]," the tenor expressed.

"I am really looking forward to coming back to Peru and starting the rehearsals," he added.

Likewise, the artist highlighted the idea had arisen from the willingness to help and collect funds for victims.

Ticket prices range between S/33 (about US$10.05) and S/315 (about US$95.97).

The money raised will be transferred to Peru's State-run National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci).

Juan Diego Florez

Juan Diego Florez was born in Lima on January 13, 1973. His father, Ruben, was a singer of Peruvian folk and Criolla (Creole) music. His mother, Maria Teresa, encouraged him to persevere in his music studies.

The Peruvian national is recognized as one of the greatest tenors in the world, which makes him the main Ambassador of Peru's country brand abroad.

He received an ovation from the audience while performing British song "Rule Britannia" —in an Inca-styled costume— at the closing of UK's BBC Proms 2016: The World's Greatest Classical Music Festival.
