Peru's Farfan signed by Russian team

Russia's FC Lokomotiv Moscow on Sunday officially announced the signing of Peruvian striker Jefferson Farfan.

Said club competes in the Russian Premier League. 

After overcoming a knee injury, that kept him off the court for most of 2016, the national athlete will now have a new opportunity to relaunch his career in the Eurasian club.

Likewise, the 32-year-old will intend to recover his outstanding skills in order to return to Peru's national team. 

The sportsman will wear No 8 jersey during six months of contract, with club options to extend it for one more year depending on his performance.

FC Lokomotiv Moscow is currently engaged in preseason training sessions in the Spanish city of Malaga. The Russian Premier League kicks off on March 4. 

Farfan has scored 22 goals with Peru's national squad. 

Previously, he played for Al-Jazira Sporting Club (United Arab Emirates), FC Schalke 04 (Germany), PSV Eindhoven (The Netherlands) and Alianza Lima (Peru).
