First-time buyers at the 6th Expoalimentaria Fair, Peru's largest food and beverage trade show, accounts for 60 percent of purchasers who mainly come from Finland, Turkey and Germany, Peru’s export and tourism promotion board (PromPeru) said.
"International buyers attending the sixth edition of Expoalimentaria come from Finland, Turkey and Germany, and are new for the Peruvian market," Luis Torres, Director of Exports at PromPeru told Andina News Agency.
According to Torres, over 40 entrepreneurs and producers from ten inner regions of the country are exhibiting their products in the pavilion ‘Perú Natura’, which brings together fair trade- certified natural and organic products.
"These products have quality standards required by the world market and have been added in the export route being promoted by Promperu" the Peruvian official said.
Organized by the Association of Peruvian Exporters (ADEX), Expoalimentaria opened on Wednesday, August 27th and will run through Friday, August 29th.
This year's edition is expected to bring together more than 38,000 visitors. Over 650 companies are exhibiting their products and the latest in technology such as equipments, machinery and packaging for food processing industry.
It is worth mentioning that the fair is expected to result in more than US$700 million in deals from the US$620 million last year.
