Peru’s domestic tourism is expected to generate US$ 300 million in revenues over the ongoing Easter holidays, the Head of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), Carlos Canales, said Thursday.
Canales noted the Lima region, in Peru’s central coast, will concentrate 50 percent of business to be carried out during Easter and added other regions which stand out with a high economic activity are Ayacucho, Trujillo and Cusco.

“During this period the most-visited attractions are the tourist sites located along Lima’s provinces as they seen benefited for being so near of the main source of domestic tourists in the country,” he told El Peruano official daily.

Furthermore, Canales stressed that of the 80 percent of travelers touring around Peru during the reported period, one million and a half are from the nation’s capital Lima.

Likewise, he said that among the most preferred tourist destinations stand out beaches located in northern Peru as well as the towns of Huacho and Barranca, in the central Ancash region.

This year’s holidays run from Thursday April 17 through Sunday April 20.
