Peru's alpaca fiber exports amounted to US$149.00 million in the period between January and November 2015, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva informed.
"Thanks to a strategy focused on visualizing our Peru's Alpaca brand at the international level, we were able to boost this product commercialization by attending trade fairs, exhibitions, as well as the Expo Peru [...]," Silva indicated.
"[...] thus, the country managed to enter new markets such as Germany, South Korea, Japan, France, United Kingdom and Hong Kong, among others," she highlighted.
Likewise, the official explained that sectoral performance contributed to position the brand as an "exclusive and luxury product," which revalues the production chain by relying on the highest quality standards.
Silva also reminded that Peru hosts 80% of the world's alpaca population, taking into account it serves as income source for more than 120,000 families.
