Peru-Israel science, educational cooperation improved

Cooperation ties between Peru and Israel have been further enhanced in sectors such as science, technology and education, thus expanding the two countries’ bilateral relationship beyond the economic field.
"The two countries’ bilateral ties have been diversified through several government-to-government agreements signed over the last years," Israel Ambassador to Peru, Modi Ephraim, said during an exclusive interview with El Peruano official daily.

He stressed the said convenes have made a huge contribution in promoting major bilateral cooperation and added that a number of Peruvian college students are granted with one-year scholarships to learn the latest agricultural techniques in Israel-based universities. 

“Youngsters from regions such as Arequipa and Piura seek to obtain training at higher educational center in the middle-eastern country in order to apply their new skills when returning to their daily activities on the field,” the Israeli diplomat said. 

Furthermore, the senior Israel diplomat pointed out that cooperation have been fostered between universities from both nations, thus empowering those benefiting from exchange programs which seek to drive more effective knowledge in their respective majors.

“Delegations from the state-funded San Marcos National University (UNMSM) and the Lima-based Applied Sciences’ University (UPC) are set to visit Israel’s higher educational centers with the aim to acquire training in research development and entrepreneurship,” Ephraim noted.

“By means of an agreement, we have also worked on water issues,” the top Israeli government representative in Peru said, adding “These actions demonstrate the great cross-cultural exchange between the two nations”.

In this regard, he hailed the nation’s capital Lima for having become a hub for the development of remarkable cultural activities by unique Israeli musical institutions. 

“Lima has hosted concert performances and spectacular programs from the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netanya Kibbutz Orchestra and Israel Chamber Orchestra,” Ephraim said.
