The National Council of Labor and Employment Promotion (CNTPE) informed of a recently approved project that will contribute to the eradication of child labor in the forest sector of the Ucayali region within the framework of the Technical Cooperation Program (2015-2017) held between Peru and Brazil.

The project is aimed at improving the drafting of proposals made by workers’ representatives, businessmen at Ucayali’s Council of Labor and Employment Promotion, and the CNTPE Technical Secretariat.

It is also intended to develop and boost socio-employment policies to improve conditions and quality of life of workers and reduce child labor in the forest sector of the region.

In this sense, assistance will be provided to install the Forest Sector Technical Commission of Ucayali Regional Council, hold training sessions, get technical assistance from Brazilian experts and undertake internships in Brazil.

It should be noted that the project will be managed by CNTPE Technical Secretariat and will be completed in 24 months. Its implementation will be conducted in coordination with Peruvian Agency of International Cooperation (APCI).

The Ucayali region economic-productive activity is based in the forest sector, whose regulation is budding considering the sector’s importance for eastern Peru.
