Joint efforts in the fight against drug trafficking and corruption will be two of the issues to be discussed by President Ollanta Humala and his Bolivian counterpart Evo Morales within the framework of the First Binational Cabinet to be held on Tuesday, June 23.
These two topics will be developed as part of the second axis “Security and Defense”, one of the four thematic axes to be discussed at the high-level summit.
It is complemented by agreements on security, defense, disaster risk management, and actions for recognition and delimitation of land boundaries.
The first axis, on environment and water resources, will include round tables on transboundary water resources, environment preservation, remediation of environmental damage caused by mining, and forest resources.
The third axis will be on economic development, social affairs and institutional strengthening; while the fourth one refers to strategic integration, physical integration and telecommunications.
Presidents of Peru and Bolivia will hold a meeting on the sidelines of the such ministerial meeting.
Both dignitaries are expected to sign a joint document that will summarize the results of the meeting.
