The Government of Peru expressed ‘total condemnation’ over terrorist attacks by the Islamic State, or ISIS, in Syria, which have killed more than 150 people and left many more injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a release expressing its regret about the brutal actions occurred on May 23 in Tartous and Jableh, as they pose a threat to life, integrity and safety of persons.

The Government and people of Peru express their solidarity and deepest condolences with the Government of Syria and, through it, with the family of victims and injured from the seven near-simultaneous explosions targeting bus stations.

“Peru expresses its strongest condemnation to such brutal criminal act, and reiterates its constant and firm commitment to fully respecting international law and international covenants on human rights," it stated.
