Peruvian Vice President Marisol Espinoza met with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) Luis Almagro, who gave her the report of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD), which highlights the progress made by Peru as part of the fight against this scourge.

At the meeting held in Washington D.C., the Government of Peru reaffirmed its willingness to host important meetings on drug and security in November, which seek to move forward in international cooperation to face these scourges affecting our peoples.

“This will be a great opportunity to share experiences on how to tackle organized crime and phenomena such as contract killing or insecurity, which create an atmosphere of fear among the population,” Espinoza pointed out.

While in Washington, the Vice President had an extensive agenda in her capacity as Chair of the Board of Virtual Educa, an OAS program promoting the connectivity and technological development of education in the Americas.

As she met with Inter-American Developemnt Bank (IDB) and World Bank officials, Espinoza invited the multilateral organizations to join her efforts to promote a more inclusive education across the continent.

“No child without school, no school without connectivity,” is the motto promoted by Espinoza, for which she was congratulated by the OAS Secretary General in response to the work she has carried out in favor of children.

The Peru government official informed this effort is already yielding results, as more than 100 schools will be constructed across the continent through a Public-Private Partnership in addition to the eight already built in Peru.
