Peru moved up two places to 57th position in the latest World Talent Ranking by the Institute for Management Development (IMD), CENTRUM Catolica Graduate Business School informed.

The objective of this publication is to assess the extent to which countries develop, attract and retain talent to sustain the pool that enterprises employ to create long-term value.

Peru's improved position is due to two factors: Investment & Development and Readiness.

To assess how economies perform, the IMD World Talent Ranking studies three factors: Investment & Development, Appeal, and Readiness.

The most significant improvement was seen in Investment & Development, going from 57th to 50th place. This included advances in public education spending, student-teacher relationships, learning process, staff training and female labor force.

As per Readiness, Peru moved up one spot to 58th, with increases in labor force growth, financial skills, international experience, science in schools, language skills, among other factors.

The IMD World Talent Ranking is based on countries' performance in three main categories — investment and development, appeal and readiness. The three categories assess how countries perform in a wide range of areas. These include education, apprenticeships, workplace training, language skills, cost of living, quality of life, remuneration and tax rates.

The ranking is a benchmark for Peruvian firms in terms of talent management policies for employees.

Peru has gained two places to reach 57th position this year. However, its overall score has dropped from 43.6 points in 2016 to 39.1 points in 2017.

This year two additional countries have been introduced in the rankings for the first time, Cyprus and Saudi Arabia, increasing the number of economies studied to 63.
