14:30 | Lima, Aug. 26 (ANDINA).

The International Center for Sports Studies (CIES) has signed a cooperation agreement with Peru's University of San Martin de Porres (USMP) in Lima on August 14, under the auspices of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF).
During a ceremony in the presence of representatives of the media, Ing Raúl Eduardo Bao García, Vice-Chancellor, Javier Quintana, Secretary-General of the FPF, and CIES signed a partnership agreement with a view of organising the FIFA/CIES Sport Management Programme as from May 2013.

“The FIFA/CIES Programme corresponds perfectly to the work logic that USMP has focused on for many years now for sport, and in particular football and volleyball,” declared Bao. “We need strong organisations to continue its development and make it a reference within our community.”

Quintana paid tribute to the essential role played by FIFA in the framework of the project and confirmed that the FPF would support joint activities of the USMP and CIES in Peru.

USMP and CIES then organised an information session, with the participation of many parties involved in the Programme.

In particular, Rafael Trevisán presented the experiences of the Universidad Católica Argentina, the first university to become a partner of the International University Network in 2004.

He then handed over to Guillermo Ricaldoni, a Director of IMG Argentina, who made a noteworthy presentation on the different facets of sponsorship in sport.

The FIFA/CIES International University Network includes partners in 14 countries, namely: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Peru, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey and Venezuela.
