Peru: Ucayali expects over 10,000 tourists during carnival season

More than 10,000 domestic and international visitors will enjoy Amazon's colors, flavors and folklore as they explore Ucayali region during carnival season —February 13th to March 6th.

The announcement was made by Jessica Navas, head of Ucayali's Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur).

This will be the first time in Ucayali's history that indigenous peoples —15 in total— will participate in the Great Carnival Parade.


According to Navas, the 2nd Regional Dance Marathon will be held February 17 at Real Plaza Mall in Pucallpa —to the delight of attendees.


On the other hand, the election of Miss Carnival Talent will take place the next day at 5:00 PM. Contestants shall perform a talent like singing, dancing or playing an instrument.


Sports enthusiasts can enjoy a motocross racing on February 17-18 at 10:00 AM. The event will be held at Chacra del Chato facilities.

Likewise, the 8th Technical Roundtable of the Interoceanic Association will convene on February 22-23. The meeting will run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Regional Agriculture Directorate's auditorium.

The abovementioned parade will feature colorful floats and troupes that will take part in a contest on February 23. 

Another awaited activity is the election of Miss Ucayali Carnival Queen 2018. The beauty pageant is slated for 8:00 PM on February 24 at El Bosque resort.


Finally, the region will host Ucayali Dakar Rally 2018 on Sunday, February 25. Its symbolic start is scheduled for 8:00 AM in Pucallpa.
